6 Hudu Alternatives 2027: IT Documentation and Discovery Platforms Compared

10 min read

Stackingo sells Hudu and six platforms you can shortlist as Hudu alternatives: SuperOps RMM, Device42 DCIM, Lansweeper, ManageEngine OpUtils, Zoho Vault and Virima. No other dedicated IT documentation platform is in our catalogue, so each alternative covers one or more of the jobs Hudu does: client documentation, rack records, discovery, IP address management or passwords. Every one is sold below the vendor's list. Each product carries its own guaranteed minimum discount, which applies on any quantity, and a higher up-to figure that depends on volume, term and market; the pairs are in the table below. Send your shortlist once and you get one comparable quote within 1 business day.

What you can buy through Stackingo • 7 platforms from 7 vendors, including a Hudu renewal if you decide to stay. • Billing models in play: per user, per technician, per device, blocks of assets, blocks of IP addresses and switch ports, and instances sized by assets. • A discount pair on every product: a minimum on any quantity and an up-to figure, shown line by line in the table. • Quote turnaround: 1 business day, one quote for the whole shortlist.

Hudu: the baseline

Hudu fits MSPs and small-to-mid IT teams that want every client documented to one structure. Its strength is breadth in a single licence: structured documentation with a drag-and-drop form builder, a password vault with one-time passcodes, linked assets and relationships, process and SOP checklists, IP address management, rack layouts, website and SSL monitoring, expiry alerts and a secure client portal. AI features, including the Hudini assistant, are included.

Hudu is licensed per user, with no user minimum, and read-only client portal users are free and unlimited. Hudu Cloud and Hudu Self-Hosted are the same licence with the same features; Hudu publishes no hosting region for its cloud, so self-hosting is the route for in-country data. Automated discovery is the Hudu Radar add-on, sized by collector packages. G2 named Hudu a Momentum Leader for Spring 2026. Our Hudu buyer's guide covers licensing and regional checks in depth.

Through Stackingo: Up to 20% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed, billed per user; quote in 1 business day. If a renewal started your search, put it next to the alternatives in one quote, and see the full Hudu plan breakdown.

SuperOps RMM: documentation inside your RMM

SuperOps RMM is the closest like-for-like in our catalogue. It fits growth-stage MSPs with roughly 3 to 30 technicians that want RMM, PSA and documentation on one cloud platform. Its IT documentation module keeps information on monitored and non-monitored assets in one place, standardises how it is recorded, maps documents to the assets they describe, lets you reuse SOPs and limits access to sensitive documents by role.

  • Plans: IT documentation is listed from the Pro plan, which combines PSA and RMM, upwards; RMM Only covers endpoints alone.

  • Who you pay for: technicians on the MSP plans, each with 150 endpoints included; Super Plus and the internal-IT plans bill per endpoint.

  • Hosting: SaaS on AWS, with US or Europe hosting chosen at sign-up.

  • Asset records: SuperOps Asset Management tracks devices on the same platform. SuperOps is also on Hudu's integration list, so some MSPs run both.

Through Stackingo: Up to 25% off list, with a 10% minimum guaranteed, billed per technician; quote in 1 business day. SuperOps RMM plan breakdown.

Device42 DCIM: rack and data centre documentation

Device42 DCIM fits data centre teams running colocation, on-premises and edge sites that need accurate rack records. It goes deeper than Hudu's rack layouts: auto-generated rack diagrams, including half-U and back-to-back devices, room layouts with heat maps, patch panel and cable management, real-time power and environmental data over SNMP, and warranty and support-contract tracking with renewal notifications.

  • Who you pay for: devices, on an annual subscription. Servers, switches, power units and patch panels are infrastructure objects, not users.

  • Hosting: a Main Appliance you host yourself on VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, AWS or Microsoft Azure, so rack, power and cabling data stays in your environment.

  • Same platform, wider scope: Device42 ITAM adds agentless discovery of hardware, software and cloud assets across hybrid IT. Device42 is a Freshworks company.

Through Stackingo: Up to 30% off list, with a 10% minimum guaranteed, billed per device; quote in 1 business day. Device42 DCIM plan breakdown.

Lansweeper: discovery across IT, OT and cloud

Lansweeper covers the discovery job that Hudu Radar does, at enterprise scale. It fits enterprises with roughly 1,000 to 50,000 or more assets that want one inventory for IT, security and procurement while keeping their existing service desk. Discovery runs through network discovery hubs and sensors, IT agents on devices and a passive traffic sensor, and IT, OT, IoT and cloud assets land in a single asset view with lifecycle and vulnerability insights.

  • Who you pay for: assets, in blocks of 2,000, not people. The Free plan shows full detail for the first 100 licensed assets.

  • Hosting: cloud sites in the EU (Ireland) or US East (Ohio), fixed when the site is created; Lansweeper Classic is the on-premises option.

  • Analyst position: a Contender in The Forrester Wave: Software Asset Management Solutions, Q1 2025.

Through Stackingo: Up to 15% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed, billed per block of 2,000 assets; quote in 1 business day. Lansweeper plan breakdown.

ManageEngine OpUtils: IP address and switch port management

OpUtils covers Hudu's IP address management job in depth. It fits network teams managing roughly 50 to 500 or more subnets across distributed sites. It maps every IP address and switch port in real time: IPv4 and IPv6 discovery, subnet tracking and conflict detection, switch port mapping with remote port shutdown, rogue device detection, and more than 30 network tools such as ping, traceroute and a port scanner.

  • Editions: Free (one class C subnet and one switch), Professional and Management; Management adds DNS and DHCP management.

  • Who you pay for: blocks of 250 used IP addresses and switch ports, with the number of distinct users also counted; subscription or perpetual licences.

  • Hosting: self-hosted on Windows Server or Linux, on your own hardware or a cloud server such as AWS.

  • DNS and DHCP at scale: ManageEngine DDI Central is ManageEngine's dedicated DDI platform.

Through Stackingo: Up to 15% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed, billed per block of 250 IP addresses and switch ports; quote in 1 business day. Plan details are on the OpUtils product page.

Zoho Vault: a team password vault

Zoho Vault replaces Hudu's credential vault, not its documentation. It fits teams already running Zoho apps and teams moving away from shared password sheets. The vault holds passwords and passkeys, with team sharing, one-time sharing with third parties and shared TOTP codes from the Standard plan. Professional adds user groups, folder sharing, break-glass emergency access and breached-password alerts; Enterprise adds Active Directory integration, single sign-on to cloud apps, a request-release workflow and SIEM integration.

  • Who you pay for: users, billed annually; Professional and Enterprise have a five-user minimum.

  • Hosting: a Zoho cloud service with browser extensions, desktop and mobile apps and offline access. Data sits in the Zoho data centre assigned at sign-up, so ask us which regions offer Vault.

  • Privileged accounts: for server and network device credentials with session control, look at ManageEngine Password Manager Pro.

Through Stackingo: Up to 15% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed, billed per user; quote in 1 business day. Plan details are on the Zoho Vault product page.

Virima: discovery, CMDB and service maps

Virima suits teams that want discovery to feed a CMDB rather than a documentation tool. It fits enterprise IT operations with hybrid infrastructure of roughly 500 to 10,000 nodes and a service desk already in place. Agentless and agent-based discovery covers Windows, Mac and Linux devices and AWS and Azure cloud resources, and a native CMDB with more than 1,000 asset types feeds ViVID service maps, application dependency mapping, and hardware, software, licence and contract management.

  • Plans: Business Pro (2,000 assets, expandable to 6,000, three discovery app installations) and Enterprise (no cap on CMDB assets).

  • Who you pay for: assets, not people: an annual subscription per instance, sized by configuration items, with no per-user seats.

  • Hosting: SaaS on AWS, with the region agreed with Virima; Enterprise adds private hosting or on-premises.

  • Fits your desk: Virima syncs both ways with ITSM platforms including HaloITSM.

Through Stackingo: Up to 15% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed, billed per instance and sized by assets; quote in 1 business day. Virima plan breakdown.

More options in the Stackingo catalogue

If you are splitting Hudu's jobs across tools, Stackingo also sells:

  • Zoho Learn: knowledge bases, courses and branded portals in one tool; billed per user; up to 15% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed.

  • ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus MSP: a multi-client service desk for MSPs, run from a single pane; billed per technician; up to 15% off list, with a 5% minimum guaranteed.

Keeping Hudu? It syncs companies, contracts, assets, sites and users from HaloPSA, billed per agent at up to 55% off list, with a 10% minimum guaranteed, and it integrates with ConnectWise PSA, at up to 25% off list, with a 10% minimum guaranteed. Both are sold through Stackingo.

How to choose a Hudu alternative

Start with the job, not the tool. Hudu bundles documentation, passwords, assets, IP addresses and racks in one per-user licence; every alternative here covers part of that, so decide which jobs you are actually moving.

  1. List the Hudu jobs you use. Client documentation and SOPs point to SuperOps RMM, racks and power to Device42 DCIM, discovery to Lansweeper or Virima, IP address management to OpUtils, and passwords to Zoho Vault.

  2. Count the right unit. Hudu and Zoho Vault bill users, SuperOps RMM bills technicians, Device42 bills devices, Lansweeper and Virima bill assets, and OpUtils bills blocks of IP addresses and switch ports. Ask for every unit on one quote.

  3. Check where your data must live. Self-hosted Hudu, Device42 and OpUtils run on your own servers; Lansweeper offers EU or US cloud sites and an on-premises edition; SuperOps hosts in the US or Europe; Virima Enterprise adds on-premises.

  4. Decide who runs the platform. Self-hosted tools need someone to patch, back up and secure the server; SaaS tools do not.

  5. Move credentials first. Passwords and one-time passcodes are the most sensitive data to migrate, so agree the export and import route before you sign.

  6. Get quotes before the renewal. Put the alternatives and your Hudu renewal side by side before the billing period ends.

Quick picker:

  • Documentation inside your RMM and PSA: SuperOps RMM

  • Rack, power and cabling records: Device42 DCIM

  • Enterprise discovery across IT, OT and cloud: Lansweeper

  • IP address and switch port management: ManageEngine OpUtils

  • A team password vault: Zoho Vault

  • Discovery feeding a CMDB and service maps: Virima

  • Everything in one per-user licence: stay on Hudu
